  • Zxi 1100 port on block- where does it go?

I HAVE A 97 ZXI 1100 AND I IN THE PROCESS OF REBUILDING THE TOP END- FOR THE SECOND TIME- The first time I did it when putting it back together I noticed a port on the front of the engine that didn't have anything hooked to it- I seached the manual with no luck... I'm thinking it the reason I keep burning up my number 1 cylinder-- I've called shops and they can't seem to give me a straight answer either... heres a pic of it with the hose and bolt at the end- I thought it was just a vacuum

That is the crankcase pulse line for the fuel pump. You might have an air leak at one of the crank seals or at the case seams. Did you ever replace the crank seals and re-seal the crank case?

I just bought the ski last summer - if that line wasn't hooked up, would it cause the engine to run lean? hence burning up my #1 piston?

That line works the fuel pump, if its not connected the ski should not run.

I found while rebuilding the top end (for the 2nd time) that the (pulse) line had a cap and it must've came off because I found it tucked under the fuel tank--- and I could not find a place to connect it too because whoever owned the ski before had a different carb setup and it only ran 1 pulse line instead of two (utilizing the rear pulse line) so with your help and many times refering to the service manual I hope to have figured this problem out- time will tell
