I just rebuilt a 650sx jet ski and I not sure if the timing is right. The engine starts good but during idle the engine lunges. Does this indicate the engine is firing late? If I use a timing light is this reading the front cylinder? How do I hook up the timing light? Jeff

    Re: timing

If it is reving up at idle on its own then it has an air leak some place in the crank case.

      Re: timing650sx jet ski

Thanks for the reply. I just did an engine exchange and my engine is lunging not revving. By lunging I mean the engine sounds strong similar and is a constant rum, rum, rum. It starts great and runs good just under powered. I have read the manual on how to time the engine. Can you tell me where I can get more information on timing this engine? Jeff

        Re: timing

The best I can say is to set it in the center of the slots.
