ZXI 750 cuts off thinking coil problem can anyone give me specs?

Hey my 750zxi runs good for like 10 to 15 minutes then just cuts off. I can crank it again much later but it will strand me on the lake so has to be towed. I was told my problem may be the Coil, but they are expensive to just replace if not needed. I need the specs and some info on how to test the coil. I can take the coil out that is not a problem, but I need to know how to test it. Can anyone help? I also would like to know where I may be able to pick one of these coils up for a reasonable price. I also have trouble with the trim motor so if you know anything about that let me know. thanks for any advice you can give me. It doesn't matter to me if you are just getting the specs out of a book I just need them to know how to check the coil.

Invest in a spark tester and run the ski on the trailer in the water, when it cuts out install the spark tester and crank it over, see if you have spark or not.
