  • Genesis 1200 overheating

I just got done installing my new SBT motor and am trying to get it broken in. The problem I am having, is that it won't circulate cooling water on it's own. I took it to the launch ramp and was very pleased when it fired right up, but was not so pleased when I felt the cylinders and had to shut it down. I took it home and removed the pump nozzle, because I suspected a bad O-ring, but that checked out OK. I then put it on a hose adapter, and was able to run with no problem (although the intake side of #2 was warmer than anywhere else, it was still cool enough to keep your hand on). I pulled the thermostat and popoff , stat tested ok, popoff I replaced, exhaust water screen looks fine. Back to the lake and same as before, had to shut it down in a few seconds.
    Help!!

First, remove the thero, they run better without. Second, check your mesh screen in the front of the pipe at the top, unsrew it from the pipe to inspect. Third, check your pickup line in the pump housing for debris.

The Polaris 1200 engines without direct injection, do run better without the thermostat, in fact, I know the 1200 SLX's came without them installed.

Thermostat did the trick. I tested it in hot water with a thermometer, and it tested OK, but the ski works just fine without it.

          Thanks Tech Dude!!:D
