  • Water in Cylinder

I have a 1997 Polaris SL700. Water is getting into the cylinder. I have changed the gaskets and O-rings. Would a loose/improperly fitting exhaust manifold allow water to enter the forward cylinder?

Pull the head cover off and remove the stock head. Look in the combustion chamber for cracks. The early model twins stock heads were known to crack and let water into the cylinder. The cracks usually start at the spark plug hole and go out following one of the extrusion's on top of the casting. New heads from Polaris are inexspensive part #3022050 and are $22.99. We are in Indiana if you need parts.
