  • poor low end power

This is a two part question.
First a problem that just started today.
I have a 94 sl650. Installed an SBT engine last season.
Took it out today and the ski has a very difficult time taking off.
As I give it wot it acts like it doesn't have the power to get on top of the water. But if I hit a wake or do something to get the backend out of the water for a second the ski instantly revs to full power. Then if I spin or let off the throttle we are back to no power.

    Part two before today
The ski has been running pretty well so far this spring. The only problem I have been having is when I first start the ski and try to take off it bogs real bad so I have to choke it for a split second to get it to run. After that it runs fine with the exception of a minor hesitation when taking off from a stand still.
After maybe 1-2seconds the ski kicks in full power and run good until I let off the throttle then it hesitate again.
Any ideas on what would cause the problems that I am experiencing?

    Thanks for the help.

Typically on any 2-stroke engine, if choking a poor running engine raises the RPM it means you are running lean somewhere. You possibly have one or more plugged carbs or a fuel restriction.

You need to buy new plugs and look into tuning your carbs at a minimum.
      It's likely you've got a restriction.
Watch that you don't go lean for long periods of time.
