1992 sl 650 intake grate

I was told that you could cut the two fins in the center of the grate to get more water flow to the prop is this true?

Correct. But it will also allow larger rocks to be sucked up into the impeller housing so be carefull if you beach it and clear the pump before you start it by pushing it out in 2-3' water and lift the rear up and down to wash out any gravel or sand ect.

Thanks for your help I should not have any trouble I never beach it we dont have to many good beachs on the lakes I go to.
