I am looking at a "trick" intake grate. It claims it delivers more water into the intake impeller for more speed and less cavitation. It does not have anything to stop sticks and other large items from being sucked in... are these worth while? junk? or what? what's your opinions??? here is a picture

    Re: intake grate

All depends on what kind of water you'll be riding on most of the time, unless you want to be swapping it out with a scoop grate for the rough stuff as conditions change.

One thing about the one in the pic - you'll have a fairly easy time getting your hand up in the pump area to take the $hit out - and I can just about bet you'll get some in there as open as that one is.

My opinion - use either a regular (non scoop) oem grate for the smooth, and the scoop for rough. Not worth tearing up a $150-$200 impeller for probably only a little bit of extra speed.

Weird, just seems like it defeats the purpose of even having an intake grate...
