  • 96 sl700 polaris plugwire not firing

One plugwire is not firing and the other is firing a little. Does anyone have any idea what would cause this? I thought about checking the coil but I don't know what ohms it should be and also I would like to know how to check the stater. Thanks!

Try cutting the plug wires back 1/4 inch. I just did this for the first time on my 96 SLT780. I snipped the little tie wrap that holds the boot to the plug wire then twisted and pulled the wire out of the boot. Then I cut the wire back about 1/4". Before I cut the wire back I couldn't see and "matalic" inside, but afterwards there it was, bright and shinny. Then I shoved the wire back inside the boot as far as possible and added a new tie wrap. I got nice looking spark from all 3 wires. This whole thing only took about 1/2 hour.
