I'm a newbie just bought a seized '94 SL750 and am in the process of getting everything together for a rebuild. I was wondering which is better: use the oil injection or pre-mix? Seems like using pre-mix would be better having 1 less thing to fail. What do I need to do to run pre-mix if that is suggested?

Re: Oil pros & cons
Hey Guys,
just thought id put a little different spin on this injection/premix debate....I'm doing both. i dont want to get rid of the oil injection, but my 94 SL750 has nearly 220 hours on it andf i dont totally trust the injection from reading everybodys horror stories. AMSOIL make a pre-mix oil called Saber. You can mix it out to 100/1. the 750 is a big slow turning low performance engine so i'm mixing my gas at 100/1, so far no fouling problems from to much oil, though id rather foul plugs then burn rings & bearings

Re: Oil pros & cons
Before you rebuild that engine and get your feelings hurt, you need to find out why it blew up. Did it seize up because is a lack of oil or run without water in it? If the injection system is on the ski and functional, leave it alone. While I've got a pair of Polaris skis, my 95 SLT 750 has over 1100 troublefree saltwater hours on it. With the exception of a new jet pump last fall, I've had no problems. I'm in the process of installing a new set of Reeds and a new 780 fuel pump. Also, a carb overhaul. I can tell you this from talking to the tech's at a local ski repair shop, 90% of skis that give up the fight due to oil loss, the owners let the oil reserviors get below 1/2. With that said, keep them serviced, and they'll last! Just my opinion.

Re: Oil pros & cons
To the guy with blown 94SL750 search around these forums until you find the info regarding the bad Polaris fuel pump.
I think it may be in your ski. It starves one of the carbs and therefore one of the cylinders of gas and creates a lean condition which blows up the ski.

Re: Oil pros & cons
www.denniskirk.com go there to get good triple outlet fuel pump. you will have to reroute your fuel lines but they need to be replaced now anyways because they are old.
