installing flush kit. sealant on fitting?

I just got my flush kits for the SL 750's. I noticed there's some sealant goop on the existing brass plug where the flusher fitting goes. Do I need to put some kinda goop on this brass fitting before installing?

that is a liquid thread sealer, and yes you should put some on so it deosn't leak, your local hardware store should carry it, or you could use teflon tape I like the thread sealer better made by loctite.
