  • Crank index, or timing on 97 1050

I have a 97 SLTX, bought from Gene's polaris, O hole shot, some mid, and limited top end. 48.6mph@5990rpm w/stock 17/25 prop. Bought like this, mind you. They said: "It just needs to be run".

I've had everything checked but timing and index. Prop, stator, carbs, reeds, compression,...Everything. Already spent $150 at the mechanic, (for proof) and didn't want to disasseble to check index, and had no timing light that worked.

I've been told a bad idexed crank will cause vibration, but there is none. any ideas? Gene's is closed till the 9th, so this thing is $2800 yard art till then.

    Bump,
Is there a way to adjust the timing on this engine. Did a search, and found nada.

I haven't bought a manual yet, and won't till I decide to keep it.The ski itself appears to be useless, but I may buy it for parts.
