Hey guys,
I am working on a friends 95' Polaris SLT750 that had a bad starter. I pulled the exhaust and removed the old starter. I am about ready to put the new starter on and replace exhaust. What I wanted to know is whether or not it is recommended to coat the o-rings on the starter with anything before putting it in? I am a mechanic auto/marine/hotrods but I haven't worked on many PWCs. I am planning on block sanding the exhaust mating surfaces to make sure they are flat and then coating the gaskets with copper spray before installing and then using Permatex Blue threadlocker on everything. Am I on the right track? Are there any tricks or tips I should know? Also, is the hose that goes from the headpipe back down under the engine and then to a fitting a pre-molded hose, or can it be replaced with regular water line from the auto parts store. Thanks!
