  • Need help!

My son has a 1994 sl650 and has problems with it bogging down and he says it takes forever to plane out. I noticed the rear cylinder spark plug is not discolored at all (but it's wet) and the other two are normal. The rear carb also sprays a mist upwards when you hit the throttle. I'm open for any suggestions.....

I would check the reed valves sounds like one may have a crack, pull the intake off and inspect them

Thanks jbfinn for the info, but are you talking about the diaphragm asm. when you refer to the reed valve?

The reed valves are between the intake manifold and the case. You have at least one bad one - replace them all. You need to remove the carbs and intake manifold.

are you sure the back carb is good? My center carb was bad (stiff diaphragms) and I had a wet (blue oily) plug.
