    Hello

If you had a rod go bad and damage the pin that it rides on the crank. Can you replace the rod and pin by separating the crank and pressing it back together in a press?

Or is it best to have the crank rebuilt?

What you are describing IS rebuilding the crank. No you can not do it without the proper skill and equipment.

So a 10yr Master Mechanic with full access to a shop with press and all could not be successful at such a rebuild?

I have to decide on which is the best route to go,i have a engine with the rear cyl blown the rod has wedge between the crank. so it needs a piston rod cyl.head or at least a new liner and the crank needs rebuilding Do i scrape up the parts or by a remanufactured eng?

      Thanks

Obviously it depends on your knowledge and tools if you can do it or not, but for the price differnece it may be worth buying an engine for a little more, everything would be new.
