  • Polaris SL 650

I just bought a 1993 polaris SL 650. Took it out and ran great for about 1-1-1/2 Hr, then "died" and could not get it started.
Replaced plugs witha gap of .032, tested and ran fine for about 5 min.
It starts all the time but I have no power to even plane. Replaced fuel filter, same symptoms. Checked plugs and found them with black carbon.
Any ideas what might be the problem or how to troubleshoot this?
    Any help is very appreciated.

Could you please tell me what would be a good acceptable compression?

        Thanks

Just checked compression. 2 cylinders at 50 PSI one has a hole in the piston.
What could have caused this? wera and tear, mixture ?

            Thanks for a repy

prolly lack of fuel, check the tech articles for an explanation of polaris fuel supply shortcomings, and the fix.

                I need big time help!

I'm in the process of removing the engine f my Polaris SL 650 engine.
I am ready to lift the engine. How do I split the engine from the driveshaft?
Th ebook I bought is great but it falls short of saying how tro do it it only refers to a shaft cover removal.
                can anyone help?

                much appreciated
