  • 93 polaris sl750n crank question alihnment

I have a 1993 sl750 ,Ive had problems grtting it running for a while like the past 2 years, replaced just about everything, I figure that when the timing mark is aligned at the timing hole the piston should be at tdc, if i get the mag cylinder to tdc the mark is no longer in the timing hole,is this normal or do i have crank issues, thanks

No it will be a few degrees off. It should not fire at exactly top dead center. Tom SBT. Do you have spark to the plugs?

I do have spark, actually it does start but anything after idle it keeps backfiring and popping and bogging out kinda like a rev limiter.

Back firing through the carbs sounds like a timing issue. You need to check the crank index. It's possible the crank is twisted and that's thowing the timing off. Another possibility is a sheared key on the flywheel.
