  • newbie needs Help ! '94 SL650 burnt wire

first time to post here, my 650 fried the black wire that goes from box to stator. did the stator die ? do i need to pull engine to replace stator ? what else do i need to replace while engine is out ? this has been a good ski and this is the first problem i've had with it. don't think it's ever had anything done to it. also i've never worked on one of these .
    any help will be appreciated

If you shorted the electrical box to the top of the battery, that would have burnt your wire, make sure you use the plastic shield between the two. Tom SBT tech.

it melted the plastic insulation from where it connects inside Black Box all the way to where it enters rubber grommet at base of block (under starter) thats as far as i've got with it, motor is still in ski. do i need to pull motor ? the ski ran for awhile after wire burnt and was tied back together.
