I have 2 - 2004 XL 700 and just fried a piston in one . I have not owned these skis long and the previous owner told me that he had just rebuilt the carbs on them . When I removed the head the piston has almost melted but I see no signs of overheating .
I have looked at my manual to check the low and high speed adjustment settings as it looks to me that the piston burned from a lean fuel issue . By the way these units are running on premix . The Carbs are Mikuni and my manual states that the low speed adjustments would be 5/8 turn out plus or minus 1/4 then it says the high speed is 5/8 out F and 1 1/8 out R plus or minus 1/4 . Does this mean the front and rear carbs are supposed to be set differently ?
Thanks
Joe
