  • 1994 sl750 trim motor won't run from switch

I have 1994 polaris sl750 and the trim motor will not work from the trim button. If I put 12vdc on the motor it will turn in both directions. I thought i had a bad trim switch but I replaced it.
It seems to have something to do with the MFD. The MFD on that year are terrible I keep having them go bad. When the MFD goes bad I disconnect it and replace the fuse but the trim will not work.
    What should I check?

I think the trim only works if the engine is running.

The trim will not work if the multi function display is not connected.
The MFD on the 1994 sl750 are terrible I have replaced the unit 3 times in two years. When the MFD goes bad it blows the fuse. So I disconnect the mfd and now the trim doesn't work.
How can I keep the MFD from going bad?

I always kept my 94 covered up and never let it set in the sun too long when it wasn't getting used. I don’t know for a fact if the gauge being exposed to the sun all the time has anything to do with it but I guess its possible.
