  • 1994 Polaris SL750 will not start

After dewinterizing my Polaris and riding it for about 10 minutes it shut off and would not start again, it's not getting any gas. If anyone has any suggestions please e-mail me at fnusraty@yahoo.com
    Thanks for your input

Check your fuel tank pressure relief valve - it may be stuck closed. To test, open your gas cap and relieve the pressure - see if it runs. Take the valve off the tank and run it on the water to see if that was it. Don't run it on the water with the gas cap off. Also try it with the vavle in both the ON and RESERVE positions - the knobs are known to go bad. You also may need to rebuild your carbs if it's been sitting too long. Gas is only good for 3 months unstbilized, 6 months stabilized.

you should try to find out where the fuel stops comming through the lines. Check the fuel filter first to make sure it is not clogged. Then if you are still not getting fuel, remove the fuel line from the pump that goes into the fuel rail, turn the engine over with the lanyard removed so you don't have any extra spark since you are dealing with gas. You should see a pulse of gas with each revolution of the engine. If you have gas at this point then you will need to remove the carbs and rebuild, checking for clogged passages in fuel lines and in carbs with compressed air(wear safety glasses). If you are not getting fuel to the fuel rail or pump then check the vent lines ect., check for kinked hoses also. I have also seen fuel lines on ski's this old deteriorate on the inside and clog themselves up. You can also check the pickup screens in the tank itself.

One thing I forgot was the check valve between the fuel pump and the carbs, it can go bad. It can be bypased by connecting the fuel pump directly to the fuel rail, and if you want to remove it just cap off the vacuum line from the intake. Let us know.
