• SL 1050 Performance questions

I've got a 97 SL 1050- In Stock form it averaged 62mph via Gps. I will be installing a set of hot seat performance 92 octane heads and a OP Ride plate this week. While I have it out of the water, does anybody have any tweaks I could do to it? I was thinking of trimming the stock arrestor cover (I'm not sure if I have to adjust anything after that though). I was also thinking of adding a pump wedge but I'm not sure which one would be best if any. Thanks for your input.

You already have a 4* wedge in there. I actually use a 6* wedge and you gain speed on smooth water. Some people say it will porpoise more with a 6* but the OP rideplate will take care of most of it. I think your ski still came with the Mikuni carbs. At least you have adjusters on those to fine tune for the F/A mod and compression change. If you have the Keihins, then there are no high speed adjusters on it?

That's right - you have to rejet.

CJ, Chopper city sports sells a cool airbox top for those, aluminum plate with tapered cones attached that help smooth air transition into the carbs. It wouldn't hurt to install a primer kit and get rid of the choke plates. While you are poking around in the carbs, the bottom of the FA doesn't even match the opening in the carb, look for your self, you will see the 1/4" of metal hangin out there. grab a grinder, and fix that.
You should be able to go up one size on each main jet, check the sizes, i'm pretty sure they are 3 different sizes, you may only have to buy 1 jet. That should be more than enough of an increase for the limited mods you are doing.

Thanks for all the input guys! I'm going to add a primer kit now, but unfortunately no shop in my area has them. They say they can get from the States but it'll take them about 2-3 weeks. So I think I'm going to make one myself. Are there any sites out there that has info about how to make them and what fittings I would need?

P.S - I found my lost 2mph which I thought came from the OP plate. Stupid me had not tighten up my new finger throttle enough and was not getting WOT.

That will do it LOL As far as the primer kit, I can't imagine not being able to find one in your area from any pwc shop or dealer. You don't have to go to a Polaris dealer for it. Try some other shops.
