i've read a couple of posts that suggest removing the 2 center bars of the stock intake grate....
what are the benifits of doing this....?
mine are slightly bent....

Slightly better top speed on glass water. If you ride in any rough water, don't do it.

...or any debris in the water, don't do it.

I thought about doing it, but I've since learned all about what stuff (even just sticks) can do to the stock aluminum stator vanes in a pump.
