94 SL750. Carbs rebuilt last season. SBT motor. Removed choke plates, primer kit. New 3 outlet pump. New gas
Took it out 3 times earlier this summer and it ran great. The next time out it would lose top rpm after it would warm up. Took carbs off and the internal filters had some junk in them. Cleaned them out and put it back together. Took it out again and everything seemed good for the first 20 mins. Then out of nowhere I lost bottom end power.
If I pull the throttle wide open from idle it would only go about 3000rpm and stay there, no matter how long I held it wide open. Tried adjusting low speed screws, didn’t change. Tried new plugs, nothing. I let it sit for 1 hr and tried it again, didn’t change. The only ways to get it back up into the high speed circuit would to VERY slowly pull the throttle till it got past the low speed circuit. Once it hit the high speed circuit it took off like normal. Or during the stall hitting the primer once would make it take off like it should. So this tells me its a fuel delivery problem? I went home and check for any air leaks in the fuel lines/gas tank, none. Have a new 3 outlet pump, took apart and checked it anyway, looked good. Checked compression...good.
Could a bad seal/gaskets at base of carbs cause something like this? Any ideas before I go and pull the carbs off again would be great.
Thanks
Tim
