  • People who REALLY know Polaris

I have a '96 SL900 that runs great until you kill it. Let it sit for 5 or so minutes and it won't start. No spark. Wait about 20 minutes or so for the CDI to cool off ( I am guessing ) and it starts right back up just fine. It will never die on its own and it runs great.

There was a post on this site regarding a problem with later model Polaris but my problem sounds like scenario 2 in the link below. Is it possible my CDI has the same issue and needs the jumper also?

Those old style CDI and stators were both known to go out, but given it's heat related, it may be your stator going out first.

My first thought is stator as well becuase of the heat. Except when I read that thread, they also talk about the CDI heating up and acting funny. I supposed the CDI gets warm do to the current passing through it.

Any other thoughts before I just start throwing money at it?
