  • Help with coils / ignition

My friend has a '96 SL 900 that is giving him some problems. A bit of history first, last time at the lake we had to jump start it (and the car engine was off that we jumped from). Well, when we hit the starter, the jetski started up just fine, but then suddenly some of the wires leaving the black ignition box (on top of the battery) started to get hot and began smoking. We were able to get the ski shut down and called it a day. When the ski got home we repaired the wires and everything powered up fine again, the starter works, things looked good. The problem is that now only cylinder number 3 is getting spark (and before all this happened all 3 were getting spark). Could the high voltage coils be smoked for those 2 cylinders? What else would cause only those 2 not to spark? Anybody know what the resistance should measure on those ignition coils?

    Thanks for the help.
