  • 97' XP 800 starting problem

I have a 97 XP that will not start.

You can put the key on and the gauges and trim will work but it will not start.

All fuses good and tested starter button and jumped solinoid to make sure starter/battery/cables are good.

You do not get voltage to the solinoid to activate it when you press the start button.

I do not get any beeps when connection the lanyard or when you put it in diagnostic mode.

Would the computer be reconizing the key if the gauges and trim work after connecting lanyard?

    What could be the problem?

You say you "jumped" the solenoid. Did the starter motor work when you jumped it?

Yes, the starter turned the engine over like normal. I did not look if it had spark when I was doing it since I didn' twant it to start like that.

        Replace the solenoid (starter relay).
