I'm looking at purchasing a supposed 2002 model year GTX DI. It seems to be in the previous year's colours (i.e silver / blue). Is there a definitive way of finding out the model year - from the hull number for example?
The last two digits of the VIN on the back of the ski are the model year.

I know that jetdogg has had his question answered but I thought I would post this info also.
There is a lot of info in the HIN. The manufacturer is the first 3 digits.
The boat SN is the next 5 digits. If you get this number and call a dealer they may be able to check it to see what the boat is susposed to be.
The last 4 digits are the date of certifacation and the model year - not always the same thing.
Also, after '84 there is a second HIN hidden somewhere in the boat to make it more dificult to falsify a boat registration.
Here is an interesting link that tells more about HIN's http://www.boatsafe.com/nauticalknowhow/hin.htm
