  • 657 to 717 swap/ so far so good

I wanted to thank everyone who helped me with all of my questions. I did a maiden voyage today. I ran the ski for about 20 minutes and varied my speed. No wide open throttle yet. So far so good. It idled in the water and seemed to accelerate fine. I replaced a 657 motor (not 657x) in a 1994 GTX with a 717. From the 657 motor I used the twin 38 carbs, intake manifold, rotary valve cover, exhaust manifold, exhaust, and stock electronics. I was also able to make the fuel gauge functional again with the information I learned from the forum. I used the stator, flywheel, and baseplate from the 717 motor. I did forget to attach a line to the hose bib on the bottom of the exhaust manifold. I'm glad I took a peek under the seat while I was clipping along. Thanks again to everyone who helped. Hopefully I can provide some help to people and can report out a complete success after the break in period. I have to admit I'm a little scared to try wide open throttle!

(I forgot to mention that I rejetted the carbs)
