    new SBT Motor leaking rave pto side

    I am at the end of the second tank breakin. I was on the lake Sat. and I was looking in the engine bay on my 98 speedster, I have two new SBT motors in
    it. I noticed that the engine on the pass. side was leaking oil from the rave on the pto side. I took the cap off and it had oil all in it. Any help would be great..

    Is it leaking at the base of the housing or around the rubber bellows? Is the ski stock? Where do you have your carb screws set at?

      It's leaking around the rubber bellow. The boat is stock. I did not touch the carbs seeing that the boat ran and idled right.

        Sometimes the springs get a little loose. Roll the retention spring off teh top fo the bellows and separate the ends. Snip off the female end 1/4" and push it back together - tha'll make it seal tighter.

          ok I'll check it out, I looked again and it also looks like oil is comming out under the green bellow around the shaft? Could the o-ring around the shaft need to be replaced.

                    Snip more spring off, it doesn't look like you made it much tighter.

                      ok, no problem, I'll try again. what can I clean the area with to get the oil off.

                            the seal is leaking still, Do I just keep cutting the spring down??

                              No. Is the oring in good shape and still soft? Or hard as a rock.
