I was out on my 94 XP I went through a weed bed. I checked for weeds there was none. I started the ski ran fine once up to top speed the ski would seemed to hit the rpm limiter and shut down. The ski would start fine and worked great throughout RPM range until top speed RPM between 6500 and 7000 and would shut down. any ideas what would cause this?

Re: 94 xp rpm limiter problems
You can use a bright flashlight or pull the pump. Any scratches out on the ends of the blades on the backside of the impellor will usually mean it is bent. Alot of light shining through as you look into the nozzel with a flashlight up in the grate pointed rearward will show excessive wear ring clearances.Bill O'Neal <br>

Re: 94 xp rpm limiter problems
I checked my impeller it looks like new. the wear ring looks like it has little scatches in it but you can not feel them with finger. I do not have my guage with me but lets the same amount of light through as my 97 HX. any other ideas I could check maybee spark plugs, water seporator/ fuel filter etc.
Thanks

Re: 94 xp rpm limiter problems
Have you ever cleaned the filters inside of your carbs? They are ten years old you know. Fuel selector valve could be almost completely clogged up.
Is the rectifier providing around 14 volts at the battery when the engine is running? If not, it will play havoc with the ignition at high rpm.Bill O'Neal, owner of Watercraft Magic in Glendora California, www.watercraftmagic.com
