  • the first start up

i know that these motors can be started without being in water but when i do the first start up after putting in a new motor should i do it in the water. 95 spi w/o oil plate got it all together but a couple of fuel lines and exhaust. anything i should look for like smoking that is normal but may seem odd. thanks for all the help this site and this company do a great job in cust service i was sent the wrong tracking number so i called and they not only gave me the number but also tracked it for me too while i was on the phone thanks again

    Re: the first start up

You Can Run It On A Hose For 3-4 Minutes To Check For Exhaust Leaks. The Motor Should Smoke More Than Normal If You Have Your Oil Premixed Properly To A Break In Mixture. Set The Idle Out Of The Water To Approx 2800-3000 Rpm And Go To The Lake. Thats The Only Way To Properly Check Performance, Look For Any Other Leaks And Break It In.

If You Are Running The Oil Pump Then Premix The First Full Tank Of Gas 50:1 Oil-gas Mixture.
