  • Xp Limited Problems

I just had one of the cylinders of my 99 seadoo xp(just purchased a few weeks ago) seize, so I took it taken apart and looked over. The oil lines have have an air bubble or two in them. I also just got the service history for it from the dealer. The engine had "hydrolocked" and all they did to fix it was get the water out and reoil it. It also at one point had the gas tank siphoned and cleaned out.
The top end is being rebuilt right now. Now I have a few questions.
How would air get into the oil lines? Why would the gas tank be siphoned and cleaned? It that an adecuate way to fix a "hydrolocked" engine?

The gas tank would be cleaned to make sure there is no water in it.

The oil line might have air in it because of a loose fitting /hose connection or if they never bled it, or if the pump cable bracket was loose.

Also the pump has a seal on the shaft that will let air in from the drive side. I've not seen that problem on Sea-Doo's, but I've seen it on Ski-Doo's. I changed lines, bled them and while running, holding the arm open one side would get air bubbles and the other would be ok. Changing the pump cured them. It's pretty odd though.
