I Am Installing A Rule Automatic Bilge Pump In A 2000 Gsx Rfi. Where Is The Best Place To Mount It? Best Way To Secure It? And Where Should The Outlet Be. Any Pictures Would Be Helpful.

Mount It Near The Rear Where The Bailers Are Located. There Is Special Marine Adhesive That Works Well For Bonding The Pump Base To The Hull. Route The Hose Upward And Through The Hull At A Point Of Your Choice. Some People Exit The Water Out The Rear Above The Tow Hook High Enough So Water Will Not Backflow Into Hose When 2 People Are On The Ski.

A word of advice.

Do not mount the outlet in the center of the rear (like above the tow eye). That's where I mounted the first one I installed and now I always mount them several inches off center. I know the center is where it "looks" the best but, with an automatic pump it may not have enough water in the hull to trigger the pump in normal floating trim. However, as soon as you try to climb on the back, that centered outlet will pump bilge water straight into your face. I know this from first hand experence. Outlet mounting is not as importanat with a manual pump but be sure to warn any passengers or swimmers before you flip it on. Also, don't mount the outlet where it will pump into the footwells. Bilge water can be oily and it will get very slippery.
One more thought. How is the auto pump triggered? If it is has a float trigger, you should be ok but if it is the kind that turns on every so often to check for resistance on the pump then it CAN run the battery down if the ski sits unused for awhile. I had to install a battery switch on the one ski with that kind of pump.
