  • Sea water damage

Does anyone know what are the most typical damages the sae water can cause if ski left unflushed for several weeks besides the engine freeze. I have noticed the water squarting from the muffler unit. Can that corrode out? What else can go bad on 720 SD?

Yes, if used in salt water the pipe will rust out and need replacement. It doesn't help the other parts any, but the block itself won't break - it will clog up with deposits eventually, as well as the rest of the passages.

What would be your suggestion in obtaining the pipe (I assume the exhaust pipe?) considering that I am not willing to pay top $$$ for new one. I found one spot that corroded on the pipe and had it welded but now that I am replacing the whole engine I would like to do the whole thing. The ski has 20-30 hrs and body is otherwise in perfect shape. How much shoul I pay for the used pipe? SD GTI 720 1997. Also where can I learn about the cooloing system on these motors?
