which is better 97 xp or 97 gsx?

If you will at all be riding with a passenger, go with the GSX.

The hulls are very different. The GSX will be faster, the XP will turn better.

i personnally prefer the gsx-more stable ride and it corners well also:D

97xps are JUNK lol many problems with them . much better ride then the gsx BUT thats also somthing only YOU can deside but if you like the ride of the xp then go for a 98 and up ski .

I love the 1997 XP's. Very reliable, not the fastest, corner well, fun to ride and have a spring seat for comfort. If you want speed and power, buy a 951 model.

The GSX was a mistake IMO. It doesn't do anything paticurily well and is a very wet and rough ride in choppy water. It does not live up to SD standards for handling and high speed stability.

BTW, I've owned several of both models, plus most of the other models that SD has ever made.

Those happen to be the very ones I own. You sit higher off the water in the XP because of the spring seat which is much more comfortable than the GSX. However, it is front end heavy because of engine placement and will nose down when doing spins. The GSX weight is evenly distributed and therefore doesn't throw you forward or back. I think the XP takes a little more skill to ride and the GSX is very forgiving for new riders. Ride them both and see which one feels better to you!

i would get the xp, it rides better especially if you have a goatee
