That is like 99% of the 1997.5 GSX-L's, that were rebuilt free through Sea-Doo when they blew up. They were converted to silver engines.

so I need to flush it everytime I ride it in our fresh water lake? I do not do saltwater and I will not. So that is it just flush it? I thought by the way everyone tells me to run from this ski and it is the most problematic seadoo every that I would need to do alot more....Seems simple?
Spraying the engine down with silicone or Bombardier lube is a good thing to do after riding to minimize corrosion as well.

Fogging that motor, greasing the pto and charging the battery is the most important thing you can do to it after each use.
Backflushing if you ride in any kind of water that has sand or weeds is important too. Washing lake water out with garden hose water doesn't do much, except it goes backwards through the system and unclogs the 90 degree fittings where peebles, sand and grass may get stuck.
Always flush if used in salt water.

Bill by looking at the pictures you did see it has the silver motor in it. Does it also have the updated or later model exhaust and carbs? I was told by one guy to "RUN FROM IT AS FAST AS I CAN" this guy owns a ski shop on another forum, but I know sbt and you know alot about these and can steer me in a good direction....I have had nothing but BAD luck with the 94 gtx so know I am looking to make my seadoo dayview a happy one.
Looking at the pictures tells me that it still has the grey top carbs on it that are exactly the same as the red top model carbs, but they are reversed with the accellerator pump towards the front of the motor, not the rear like all later models. The jetting specs were different on the later models, and the later model carbs do not have the atmospheric dampening system on the diaphram covers like these do.
The exhaust pipe is the white 951 pipe, which is believed to be slighly better than the black pipe used on later models. There is no rubber envelope around the pipe manifold gasket ( the update kit).
With your bad luck, I'd be leery of telling you to run out and buy a 1998GSXL no matter what color it is. These skis can be a pain to own, but they are fast.

Bill doesnt it look to have the updated engine? Guy just told me it was a factory seadoo replacement and has 4 hours run time...never turned over and he also said it would run around 60 with him on it. He weighs 250 lbs.
I heard bad things about the 951's I hope this one will last.
make sure you have the orange pipe gaskets and get a rubber ring for the pipe , keep an eye on your pipebolts and the ski should be fine , that ski should be a little faster then the 98 and up ,
it looks like some goof put red RTV on the pipe gasket , it also dont look like OEM gaskets , be sure to change them .

where do I get the gaskets from? the updated kit? I look at the micofich and dont see the rubber boot....I will take this winter to make it top notch. I will fog it and I will change the battery at the first on next season. I will treat it good and not rev it wfo all the time....most of the time I will only run it about 30 mph. Hopefully it will last for maybe 100 hrs? If so I dont mind buying a motor from sbt for it. How much does a sbt engine cost? the silver one of course. And I need the part number and location where I can get the updated gaskets. And is the black rubber next to the pipe the splash guards?
