    Compared 657 to 657x to 717 specs.

    I compared the specs of a 657 and a 657x to a 717 and found there are many differances between a 657 and a 657x. Such as carburetors,main jets, pop off pressures,Ignition timming,compression Ratio,Rotary valve,and a few more. When I compare the specs on a 657x and a 717 there are very little differances, which are, Main jets, Pilot jet,Pop off pressure,Bore,and displacement.
    Is the 717 just a bored out 657x?
    If so, will the rotary valve cover, intake, exhaust and the electrical componets from a 657x fit on a 717 with any problems?
    Does a 717 have oval ports as a 657x has?

    They are very similar, but no you cannot use intake and electrical parts from one to the other. No a 717 is not just a bored out 657x.

        I don't know what 'specs' you are looking at - but they don't share any internal parts, or many external.

          I am looking at SeaDoo Technical Specifications on
          www.sea-doo.net/Specifications/index.asp
          Look up specs for a 1995 spx or gtx (657x) and then look up a 1995 hx.(717)
          Same carberation,rotary valve, timing,electrical specs.
          Then if you look up a 1994 spx or gtx(657) it's not close to either.
          I saw in a forum where someone said a 576 external parts will fit on a 717.Just trying to find out for sure.
          Bill do you have any input on this?

            Some of the 657 external parts like the RV cover and exhaust manifold, stator,magneto flywheel, front mag cover, pto, will fit onto the 718 engine. You might have to do a little grinding to mach up the ports of the RV cover to the cases.
