  • Jet Pump chinging...

So my skis up and running good. out of the water anyway. I do have one question though. MY jet pump makes a lot of noise. Sounds like.. If I were to describe it.. Chinging... pretty loud too. but once I touch the throttle it goes away then comes and goes randomly. last summer I asked my neighbor about it and he told me its normal for seadoos to make the noise and theres nothing wrong. If hes correct can anyone explain why it makes the noise???

Because it has a metal driveshaft that floats loosely in the splines of a metal impellor.

    Completely normal.

Sea Doo made a spring loaded pusher that goes inside the pump cone to limit the endplay and noise on later models. You can purchase the retrofit parts for about $35.00 at a SD dealership if your model doesn't allready have it.

      dontcare,

Here's a couple of places to look for the kit.

There's one on ebay, but I don't know if it's new, with "buy it now" it's $19.99.

Or you can get a GREAT Price at ParkerYamaha for a WHOPPING $7.62

Occasionally you'll see em on ebay including pump oil.

      Hope that helps

here is a fix. For years I , and some others, have assembled the driveshaft/impeller splines with a little silicone caulk on the driveshaft splines. This cushions the extra space between the male and female splines inside the impeller which makes it as quiet as one possibly can. Sounds like a new boat afterward.
