2000 GTX wont start...

Im a newbie to all this....not the mechanical type. With that said hopefully this is a simple problem and im an idiot. My ski has been sittin for over 2 years now and wont start. I hooked up the charger to the battery and am getting it to sound like it wants to crank but wont turn over. The low batter alarm doesnt sound or anything. It just make this churning sound. However when I take the charger off it wont do anything. Is the batter bad???? Thanks

I read the starting problems tech page. It doesnt sound like the same problem as mine. How do I know if the battery is dead or if the starter is bad??? After the battery charges it will just churn at the starter but wont attempt to turn over. Is this lack of juice from the battery or something much more complicated???

First, make sure the engine is not locked up. Remove the pto cover behind the motor and turn the engine 360 degrees by hand ( removing the sparkplugs makes this easier).

No battery, after sitting for two years, will start your ski even if you charged it up. Buy a new battery.

Once you know the motor is not locked up, if it still won't start, test the starter and solenoid by jumping the two large posts on the solenoid in the electrical box. If the starter works when you jump the solenoid, replace the solenoid. If not, replace the starter motor.
