  • 95' XP top end rebuild

I'm rebuilding the top end of a 95' XP 720. After taking the block off, I see that the crankcase is half full of oil (halfway up on the crankshaft). I can't find anywhere in my shop manual if that is ok or how full it is supposed to be. Any suggesstions?

That means the center seals on the crankshaft are leaking and you need a new crank too.

There should be NO oil in the crankcases, other than in the rotary valve drive gear cavity in the center of the cases where the oil hoses connect to the cases.

I can't just replace the center seals?

No, they are part of the crank.
