Re: How to set up XPDI for surf ???

    Bill,

Thanks for the reply I know you must be very busy and I really appreciate the time you take in helping others.

    Now more questions :

Does the stock airbox on the 04 XP trap water?
Should it be removed or would that cause more problems?
If I should remove, what FA do you suggest?

Someone mentioned an air pump for DI engines???
    could that be another source?
If it exists where is it?

Is there any sensors on the DI models like the 4techs have that could be putting me into a limp home mode?
Like tilting too far and giving some false low oil signal or someting?

Re: How to set up XPDI for surf ???

The OEM airbox has outlets so it won't trap water. There are no alternatives for DI motors that I know of.

Yes a DI has some sensors, but not for low oil or "tilting".

To fix a DI, go to an authorized SD dealership and connect it to their computer to find fault codes that tell them where or what to look for.

The air pump supplies air pressure to disperse fuel through the fuel injector nozzels. It is not a source for water intrusion into the motor, if that is what you were asking.

Problem Solved!!!!!!! To all who tried to help THANK YOU

The problem was a leaking spark plug boot, when it gets wet it shorts.

I was almost ready to give up on this boat but I'm glad I didn't.
It's a Great boat for the surf! I took it out yesterday and had a blast!
The shoal at OC MD was Kicking up Huge waves! No Problem

I talked to a lot of people about this, no one knows all the answers all the time. I really apreciate all your efforts

Special thanks to Jim of J&J Watercraft of Wilmington Delaware
who came up with the idea for that led me to the problem.
A simple idea that I would not have thought of in a million years. Thank You

If you ride in salt water, wrap the porcelean portion of the sparkplug with black electrical tape. It will stop the spark jumping to the head. Use dielectric grease around the lower edge of the sparkplug boot to form a seal.
