  • Help me, Obi Wan Kenobe....92 sp

    I'm new here, and this is my first post. I have a 92 sp with a 580 motor, never seen salt. It's problem: it cuts out, that is, the revs drop drastically, when it's at WOT. It acelerates smoothly until WOT, and then drops waaaay down, but does not die. It'll run fine at a hair below WOT. The carb's been rebuilt, new jets, diaphragm, etc. Coil wires replaced. The tech says the coils show proper resistance, and the overheat switch has been bypassed for testing purposes. Compression is even at 170psi.

    Any suggestions would be greatfully appreciated and thank you in advance.....

    And its Memorial Day weekend, and I got no ski...{sniff}

    Replace the fuel selector valve. Check the little rubber groment right under where the hood closes. There is a rubber pad glued to the hood. If it covers that gromment hole, it cuts off the vent line to the fuel tank.

    Removing the temp sensor is useless as it has nothing to do with anything other than the buzzer. It is not connected to the ignition and it does not send you into limp mode like some other models will if tey get hot.

          About 40 miles north of Clearwater, Fl, on the Gulf. It has a wacky roadside attraction called Weeki Wachee Springs from the 40's that features a mermaid show. It's got quite a history. Google it.-Regards, Ken
