  • 98 xpl help

I am currently working on putting my new sbt engine in the boat. The issue i am having is that I put took the engine out in the fall and forgot what the pulse lines, gas line in and out are and where they go on the carborator. I could use a diagram or some thing to help me see it to get this bad boy back in the water.
    thanks
    in advance

    Re: 98 xpl help

Robert, The pulse line comes off the case behind the starter and goes forward to the pulse fitting on the mag carbureator cover plate.

The on line is the largest diameter fuel line coming from the fuel bowl strainer to the lower side of the mag carb fitting by the throttle cable.

The return line goes from the rear of the pto carb to the top of the fuel sender unit on top of the gas tank.

        Re: 98 xpl help

Thanks for advice, I have another quick question there are 2 out lets on the block, I believe one is for the carbs and the other is for the RAVE valves? Is this correct and if so how do you tell which outlet is for which. Also can you tell me what a RAVE valve is, I have looked online but all i can get is that it is not a rotary valve.
        thanks again

          Re: 98 xpl help

The fitting closest to the starter motor is for the pulse line, the rear fitting runs the rave valves, not that it would matter if you mixed them up though as they are both the same, a fitting leading to a hole in the motor to pulse the fuel pump and to push open the rave valves.

A RAVE means Rotax Adjustable Valve Exhaust or exhauist valve that opens raising the exhaust port timing. When closed, the motor has much more bottomend power, when opened the motor will rev up another 1000 or so rpm, giving the boat more top speed.

            Re: 98 xpl help

Thanks for all the help, I know I would have never got the carb back on right with out it. I was wondering if anyone had a diagram for the fuse pannel in the 98 xpl, something that would show me what fuses are what and what the proper fuse is. :emoticons
            thanks in advance

Sorry I can't help you with that... My manual doesn't seem to have a diagram like that in it.

thanks for all the help, I checked the starter relays and they were all coroided up. After cleaning them up and tapping on the solnoid the unit has fired. The beep is not there, but the unit is acting like it wants to start. Thanks for all the help
