  • WSM Internal Engine Parts.. Pros?... Cons?...

Being new to the PWC world, and in the middle of rebuilding my first one, I have naturally scoured the 'net looking for information and parts sources. I have found a wealth of information here on these forums, and combined with an OEM service manual, I am learning things.

My question relates to personal experiences with WSM brand internal parts for use in Seadoos; In an 800 to more precise. The ski that I am rebuilding will be used for moderate recreational use.

Does WSM use new or rebuilt rods? In a Harley, you lap the rod oversize, and use oversized lower rod bearings... Do they do this in these watercraft?

I notice they seem to use a caged needle bearing on their piston wristpins. It seems that you actually have less bearings there. How do these hold up?

What about their pistons? It appears they have a cast, stock replacement type piston. The finish on the skirts looks like a fine beadblast that would appear to hold oil well.

Gaskets? How do their gasket sets compare to what else is on the market?..

Please offer up your personal experience with these parts in a Seadoo engine.

    Thank you,
    Bob

On the rod question they will all be new and they do not use oversized bearings inwatercraft.

WSM pistons are stock type pistons like SBT but the SBT pistons have a lot better consistancy of size the the WSM's I have tried in the past they could have improved thier QC and are better now?

Caged type bearings are what most engines use but you may want to hear from Bill on if they are any worse then the stock un-caged ones.

Gaskets will work as good as stock but seem to be a little thiner then others.
