What caused my engine to blow?

1997 gtx

I keep hearing people talk about fixing the problem......So lets see what you guys think!!!

Original motor.......went no compression #2......after removing the engine I noticed through the exhaust port that the top of that piston was caked with carbon and the sides ( top edges of the piston) were torn up. Motor did not seize and still ran.....

What do you guys think?

Nothing without detailed pictures. My crystal ball is cloudy today.

Thanks for the "smart _ _ _ " answer......I would think you might have some ideas...and i doubt you guys are going to tell me what you think when i bring the core back!!!

sure sounds like an ultra-lean condition to me. the carbon sounds fishy. Oh, maybe your on oil injection and it was still getting oil.

Just another person with a problem here.

I'm not being a smart-***. No one can guess without details. It could be 10 different things, but without having the parts or detailed pictures of them I and everyone else have no clue. No we don't diagnose cores, we're not in ther service business - that's what your local dealers are paid for. If you're a walk-in customer, yes I will take a look for you when you get here - that's no big deal.

Oh and if you are a walk-in and want me to diagnose it, please have it completely diassembled when you get here.

Don't blame TS for using my "cloudy crystal ball" routine......

It is difficult enough to guess what causes failures even with detailed accounts, impossible without some sort of imput.

If I said my car died on the side of the freeway coming to work today, could you tell me why without some details?
