How do I install the magneto on my 1990 sea doo sp 580 yellow motor. Does the magneto half to be set?

If it has sloted holes where the screw attach it to the block yes it has to be aligned. Look at the install instructions for that engine. There will be a mark on the stator plate that you align with a case mark or where the cases come togeather. Not 100% which on that motor.Providing mobile JetSki service to the Charlotte / Lake Wylie area. -

First off, the "magneto" is the front flywheel.
The stator, or "armature plate assembly" is what you mount on the front of the cases. It has an alignment "tic" mark on it and that aligns with a "tic" mark on the upper case half about 1/2 inch above the centerline of both cases.Bill O'Neal <br>
