    ATTN BILL O

    Hello,

I wrote to u guys about a month ago about my 95 xp with the factory pipe on it. My question and I don't know if you can answer it without looking at the interior of the motor or not is this, I had vortex flame arrestors on it with the factory pipe will this work fine with the stock air box and rejetting the carbs to 140 highs and 70 lows? The reason being and I know its probably a crap shoot but the guy I bought the engine from had it bored and a bigger crank so now its more like a 754 than a stock 720. I just don't want this thing to blow up on me thats why i have removed the vortex flame arrestors and jets to prevent a lean seizure. Sorry for the long winded post but I wanted to give some background am I out in left field or what?

    Thanks in advance,
    Jason:emoticoni

Side note I already contacted Factory pipe and they say it should work fine but without knowing the extent of the engine work perfromed they can't say for sure.

I think I'd try 145 mains and 70 pilots. Better safe than sorry.

Who knows, it may still be too lean. Never take anything for granted when jetting carbs and using aftermarket pipes.

Yeah you're right that seems to be the common theme on this site when it comes to blown engines should of went with SBT. Live and learn, thanks again Bill I'll keep this post updated.

            Re: Factory pipe q's

Without the benefit of knowing the impellor pitch, nozzel sizes, compression ratio, squish clearances, and ignition timing, nobody can tell you exactly what you need.

You have an overbored 720. You do not have a "bigger crank".

              Hey again Bill,

Yeah I figured it was a crap shoot but one should have spent his money a little wiser. As far as the other #'s you pointed out I know the compression in both cyl's is 160 as far as the squish and ignition I don't have a clue. The impeller and nozzel are stock should I be thinking of changing these as well and what would be your recomendations based on what little useful info I have given you?

                Re: Factory pipe q's

I think you will benefit from repitching to a slighty lower pitched impellor. Call Impros.

                        Re: Factory pipe q's

                        Hi,

Make sure you get you ski set up properly-I put a factory pipe on my stock seadoo 720 xp and it caused problems as i had an old and worn out engine. You have to remember that Factory Pipe design their products for stock PWC's, so if you have other mods then you need to make sure that your ski is set up properly. If it costs an extra $200 at your service place, then do it and at least then you'll know it has been done properly. It's not worth taking chances. You could end up with a blown engine-and that is a disaster and expensive. Just wanted to let you know from my own experience. Have fun:emoticont
