the speedos on the skis are inaccurate over about 30 mph. To gauge speed use tach you will get used to it fast. But if you are set on having an inacurate speedo it will cost you $100+ in parts from you dealer. That is if you have the right mpem, if not it will cost alot more.

      Gday Patrick,

I had a similar situation with my 95 XP which didn't have a speedometer either. I ended up getting what's called a Pitot tube speedo made by a company called Yazaki Marine. Basically, it uses a small pick-up at the back of the jetski that senses water pressure-which is proportional to the speed that you are travelling. That water pressure causes the speedo to operate. They are quite accurate, but you have to remember that the pickup operates on water pressure, so if the the watercraft is bopping in and out of the water (which tends to happen sometimes) the speedo will pulsate a bit. Otherwise, they're great-try looking up Yazaki Marine on google or ebay. I thouraghly recommend them.

Alternatively, you could buy a cheap GPS unit, but i got the analog speedometer becuase i like analog gauges:D

Good luck with finding something suitable.

My GSXL has a speedo and I never look at it. If I thought it would be easy, I would swap it for an anolog tach. A handheld GPS is alot more accurate and probably cheaper, but I haven't seen on that will fit into the guage housing.

I wouldn't spend a dime for a speedo. I never even look at it, it's useless.
