95 xp steering cable

i have a 95 xp last weekend it broke in the water i have a parts ski i can take it off of but cant figure out how to get it out of the back of the hull any one have any exsperiance in this

undo the 17mm nut on the inside of the hull and push the cable though some then it will unclip in the back then you will pull it out from the inside . if its a salewater ski it will prob be tuff to get out .
